Wonder of Wonders, Miracle of Miracles

Hello faithful family, friends, and followers. We did it! We are relocated and could not be more pleased. Thank you to all who prayed for the move, it could not have gone more smoothly, with wonderful movers and excellent weather. Pleased is probably an understatement, while the time leading up to our move brought Joy to tears as she struggled to find words due to her aphasia, the time since the move has brought tears of joy and thankfulness, hence, the title to this post. While the original lyrics don’t really fit relocation to a new home, in my mind I’ve been singing all week, “Wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles, God took Joy and Gary by the hand. Wonder of wonders, miracle of miracles, led them to the promised land.” 😊

One of my primary prayers, my goal, and desire was to relocate to a place where Joy felt at home, safe, supported, and obviously happy. Not that our townhome was not safe, but if something were to happen to me, it was more than Joy could manage and that weighed on her mind more than I wanted it to. So we prayed and worked diligently to find a location that met all of our criteria.

Before we even started to plan the move, we had been discussing what travel plans could/would look like in the future. We love Europe, but was that too much of a stretch given our new reality? One day I threw out some suggestions for both U.S. and European destinations and Joy’s response was, “Well I feel safer when we travel in Europe, but if something happened to you while we were there, I don’t know what I’d do.” Well, just yesterday, as we looked out our living room window, Joy commented, “When I look out our window, it makes me feel like we are in Europe. I feel like I’m on vacation, but I don’t have to go home, I am home!” While we’re still looking at travel options, I am so blessed to know that Joy feels like our choice has some of the same vibes of Europe we love so much.

The work of unpacking has been intense and we still have a ways to go, but we are both happy with the progress we have made so far. But with all we have yet to do, I will keep this short and end with the following from the Song of Songs as I continue to reflect on all that God has faithfully brought us through this past year:

Come then, my beloved, my lovely one, come.

For see, winter is past, the rains are over and gone.

Flowers are appearing on the earth.

The season of glad songs has come,

The cooing of the turtle dove is heard in our land.

The fig tree is forming its first figs,

And the blossoming vines give out their fragrance.

Come then, my beloved, my lovely one, come. (Song of Songs 2:10-13)

We are truly blessed by God’s grace and mercy as he has invited us to come to our new home. Thank you, once again, for your faithful prayers, support, and encouragement and please know we hold you in our prayers daily and appreciate you all, more than words can say.🙏🏻
